Cystitis occurs at least once in the life of most women, but often it is treated incorrectly or the cause is ignored altogether. As a result, the disease turns into a chronic form. About this said urologist Anton Glebov in an interview on the YouTube channel «Slava Dyomin».

Cystitis in women: why it is important to consult a urologist

According to the doctor, one of the main mistakes is to consult a gynecologist or self-medicate with pharmacy products.

«Cystitis should be treated by a urologist, as this is a disease of the urinary system», — explained Anton Glebov.

He emphasizes that incorrect treatment or random selection of medications often does not yield results. Because of this, inflammation may persist or turn into a chronic form.

Cystitis prevention: what really works

The doctor notes that the risk of cystitis increases due to a number of factors that can be controlled.

Among the main ones:

  • hypothermia, especially cold feet

  • tight clothing or underwear

  • the transfer of bacteria due to anatomical features.

At the same time, cold itself is not a direct cause, but it can contribute to the development of infection.

Cystitis and intimate life: what you need to know

The urologist emphasized that during cystitis, it is advisable to completely refrain from sexual contacts.

«During treatment and for some time after it, intimacy should be avoided to prevent injury to inflamed tissues», — he noted.

There is also what is called postcoital cystitis — a form that occurs after sexual contact. It is related to anatomy and the mechanical transfer of bacteria.

How to understand that cystitis has been cured

The disappearance of symptoms does not necessarily mean recovery. According to the doctor, it is important to identify the cause of the disease and confirm the results with tests.

Sometimes symptoms similar to cystitis can be caused by other issues, such as kidney stones.

«A person can take a pill, and the pain disappears, but this does not mean that the problem is solved», — explained the urologist.

That is why the doctor recommends not to self-medicate and to consult a specialist to avoid complications.

Cystitis remains one of the most common problems among women, but with the right approach, it can not only be cured but also prevented from recurring. The main thing is not to ignore the symptoms and not to rely on random advice.

Earlier, urologist Anton Glebov named the ideal size of the male organ for a Ukrainian man.
