Comment from Mykhailo Podolyak

According to ХВИЛЯ: Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak commented on the resignation of Andriy Yermak, stating that it is part of the democratic process. Podolyak emphasized that in times of war, society becomes more sensitive to corruption suspicions. He noted that if an official raises doubts in society and that hinders the President from implementing the strategy, then the official takes political responsibility and resigns.

Resignation of Andriy Yermak

Andriy Yermak submitted a resignation letter on November 28, 2023. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Yermak from the position of Head of the Office of the President on the same day. At the same time, on November 28, employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) conducted searches at Yermak's residence as part of the investigation. Ukrainian border checkpoints also received a letter prohibiting Yermak from leaving the country.

Podolyak stressed the importance of adhering to democratic principles in power, especially in difficult times when not only political stability is at stake but also public trust in the government.

The resignation of Andriy Yermak has become an important political signal in the context of the fight against corruption in Ukraine. The actions of law enforcement agencies accompanying his resignation indicate an increasing activity in investigating corruption cases, which may influence the overall political atmosphere in the country. It also underscores how crucial transparency and accountability of government structures are during a state of war, when society needs confidence in its leadership.
