Deferral from conscription for military servicemen

According to ХВИЛЯ: In Ukraine, military servicemen have the opportunity to obtain a deferral from conscription to take care of their grandmother under certain conditions. The main requirement is the absence of first-degree relatives as well as the presence of a disability of group I or II in the grandmother.

To obtain a deferral, it is necessary to provide a package of documents that confirms the family relationship between the military serviceman and the grandmother. Among the documents that confirm identity, there are:

  • grandmother's passport;
  • birth certificates of the parents;
  • passport of one of the parents;
  • birth certificate of the military serviceman.

Proof in this case must be documents that certify identity, as well as those that relate to the Register of Civil Status Acts.

Thus, military servicemen who meet the specified criteria can take advantage of the opportunity for deferral from conscription to provide proper care for their grandmother.

Social needs of military servicemen

This news highlights the efforts of the Ukrainian government to consider the social needs of military servicemen who may be involved in military service during the conflict. It is important that legislation offers support mechanisms for families, allowing them to obtain a deferral when assistance to elderly relatives is needed. The relevant documents ensure transparency of the process and prevent abuse, which is an important aspect in the context of military mobilization.
