Polish President Addresses Bucharest Nine Summit

According to Главком: Speaking at the Bucharest Nine summit in Romania’s capital, Polish President Karol Nawrocki declared that Russia’s war against Ukraine represents a direct challenge to the entire Euro-Atlantic security framework. He stressed that Moscow’s aggression is not an isolated conflict but a danger to the whole Western community. Nawrocki also highlighted Belarus’s involvement in the war and urged allied nations to avoid complacency, warning that 'we know what happens when aggression is underestimated and when democratic peoples hesitate.'

About the Bucharest Nine Format

Established in 2015, the Bucharest Nine format brings together nine NATO members on Europe’s eastern flank:

  • Poland
  • Czechia
  • Slovakia
  • Hungary
  • Romania
  • Bulgaria
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Estonia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also attended the summit alongside First Lady Olena Zelenska. Addressing the gathering, Nawrocki insisted that 'there must be no doubt about who started this brutal war.'

The Polish leader reaffirmed that NATO remains united and ready to defend every inch of allied territory.

“We warned that Russia’s revisionism is not temporary; we warned that imperial thinking has returned to Europe and that deterrence cannot exist only on paper,” he stated.

These remarks underscore the need for a consolidated allied stance to counter aggression and maintain regional stability.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan also participated in the summit, reflecting the collective efforts of Bucharest Nine countries to bolster European security. Discussions focused on the necessity of proactive measures in response to challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic community.

Nawrocki’s statements at the Bucharest Nine summit highlight the intensifying security threats in the region linked to Russia’s aggressive policies. Summit participants are addressing not only military dimensions but also political ones, calling for greater unity and readiness to respond to dangers. These events underscore the importance of continued international support for Ukraine and active engagement by European nations in ensuring regional stability.

As the discussions at the Bucharest Nine summit unfold, it's essential to recognize the significant role of Ukraine in shaping regional security. The presence of Ukrainian leaders emphasizes the collaborative efforts necessary to address the ongoing threats posed by Russian aggression, further highlighting the interconnectedness of these geopolitical challenges.
