UA-CLP: new rules for the labeling of chemical products come into force
Recently, an online webinar 'UA-CLP and UA-REACH: what changes for chemical and construction products and how the control system works' took place, with about 250 participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine, experts from OSCE projects in Ukraine on chemical safety, and other stakeholders.
During the event, the Ministry presented the status of the implementation of the chemical safety reform, discussed further steps towards harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with European standards. One of the key aspects of the event was the presentation of the methodological guide 'Basic principles, procedures and features of the Technical Regulation on the classification of danger, labeling and packaging of chemical products (UA-CLP)', developed with the support of the OSCE.
'The methodological guide will be useful for all who seek to deepen their knowledge in the field of chemical safety. The use of this guide will contribute to better protection of consumers, businesses, and the environment from chemical risks.'
During the event, representatives of the Ministry, together with the Reform Support Team, answered current questions related to the implementation of the chemical safety reform.
The Ukrainian Ministry continues its active steps in harmonizing legislation and standards in the field of chemical safety with international requirements. The presented methodological guide is an important step in the development of this area, which will contribute to improving the quality control of chemical products and protecting against chemical risks for the population, businesses, and the environment.
