Vinnytsia continues to upgrade public transport with the support of Switzerland. Already this summer, the city will begin receiving 23 low-floor trams Tram 2000 of the new generation, which will make trips more comfortable for people with disabilities, elderly passengers, and parents with strollers. This is reported by the Vinnytsia City Council.

The first cars are expected to arrive in Vinnytsia in the coming months. Along with the rolling stock, the city will receive spare parts, special equipment, and materials for maintenance, allowing for a faster introduction of the trams into operation.

The relevant additional agreement was signed by the parties at the end of June.

According to the mayor Serhiy Morgunov, currently about 70% of public transport in Vinnytsia is already accessible for people with reduced mobility. The new batch of Tram 2000 will help make the entire tram network even more barrier-free.

The city also continues its long-term cooperation with Zurich, which has lasted for over two decades. During this time, Vinnytsia has already received 116 trams of types Mirage and Karpfen, as well as 67 previous generation Tram 2000 cars.

The document covers not only the transfer of trams. Swiss specialists will advise the city on developing the transport network, optimizing routes, scheduling, and analyzing passenger flows.

Preparation for the operation of new cars is already underway. In June, three employees from the tram depot underwent training at a Zurich transport company to master the technical maintenance of the new generation Tram 2000.

At the same time, Vinnytsia is modernizing the existing trams. Transport company specialists are independently installing low-floor sections on the previous series cars. Two such trams are already transporting passengers, and another two are currently undergoing modernization.

Vinnytsia's cooperation with Switzerland has been ongoing since 2006. In addition to trams, the city has received rails, spare parts, specialized equipment, and expert assistance, enabling local transport operators to transition from operating imported cars to modernizing them independently.

Recall that on May 28 at 22:00 at the stop Dev'yatyy microdistrict an incident occurred where a man and a woman assaulted the tram driver.
