People believed that its roar is the voice of the unhappy girl, who still cries for her lover.
Another tale tells about the robbers led by Oleksa Dovbush, who often gathered near this place. It was believed that they discussed their plans and hid part of their loot here. Because of this, the waterfall was associated with the spirit of freedom and struggle.
Some claim that on the night of Ivan Kupala, the water of Probiy gains magical power: if you wash your face with it, you can retain youth and beauty, and if you drink it, you receive protection from diseases for a whole year.
