September Launch for Xiaomi 18 Pro, Standard Xiaomi 18 Arrives in December
Xiaomi 18 Series Rollout Will Be Split Into Two Events
According to НВ — Техно: According to GizmoChina, Xiaomi will not release its entire 18 series at the same time this year. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to be officially introduced in September, while the regular Xiaomi 18 will follow in December. Previously, Xiaomi tended to present all of its flagship phones during a single gathering, so this reported change in launch style stands out. For buyers, that means the Pro model should be available first, with the base unit coming a few months later.
All phones in the Xiaomi 18 lineup are said to run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which Qualcomm will formally announce at its Snapdragon Summit from September 22 to 24. Reports indicate the Xiaomi 18 Pro could launch on September 28 or 29. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 uses TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process, a step that promises noticeably better performance.
Xiaomi 18 Model Features
The standard Xiaomi 18 is said to drop the triple 50MP rear camera in favor of a 200MP dual-camera setup. The Xiaomi 18 Pro will keep its back-facing display and add several new capabilities, including:
- a built-in compass
- rapid access to the WeChat payment code
- one-touch meal ordering
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to start at 5,499 yuan, which is about $820. That is 1,000 yuan above last year's starting price.
Color choices for the Xiaomi 18 include black, white, pink, blue, and red. In August 2026, Xiaomi already unveiled the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max in China. Those devices offer a Qualcomm processor, OLED displays, substantial batteries, and 200MP main cameras. The Redmi K100 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5V Series chipset, which has one fewer GPU segment than the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Splitting the Xiaomi 18 series reveal into two phases may be a deliberate way for Xiaomi to refine each model's market entry. It also creates more room to emphasize the distinct strengths of each phone. As smartphone tech advances quickly, companies may need to rethink how they time product launches in order to stay competitive.
