New Automated Traffic Violation Cameras in Ukraine

According to Главком: Starting March 6, 2024, Ukraine will activate 37 new automated systems for recording traffic violations. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and ensure all drivers comply with traffic regulations. The expansion of automated enforcement is a common trend in many countries seeking to reduce accidents.

Of these new systems, 35 will be installed at entirely new locations, while 2 units will resume operation following repairs. The primary goal is to enhance monitoring of traffic rules and lower the rate of road accidents.

Locations of the New Camera Systems

The new automated traffic cameras will be deployed at the following addresses:

  • In Brovary:
    • Intersection of Kyivska Street – Heroiv Ukrainy Street – Viacheslav Chornovola Street
    • Intersection of Kyivska Street – Shevchenka Street
  • In Obukhiv: 119 Kyivska Street, towards the village of Tatsenky
  • In Vyshhorod:
    • Intersection of Sholudenka Street – Boryso-Hlibska Street
    • Shevchenko Avenue – Naberezhna Street
  • In Bila Tserkva:
    • 113 Oleksandriiskyi Boulevard
    • Kniazia Volodymyra Avenue
    • Nezalezhnosti Avenue
  • In Kyiv Oblast:
    • Highway M-07, km 23+550
    • Highway M-05, km 39+140

It is also noted that new regulations governing work and rest periods for commercial drivers will take effect on July 26, 2026. This separate measure is similarly aimed at boosting road safety across Ukraine.

The deployment of these new automated enforcement systems is a key component of Ukraine's strategy to enhance road safety. Increasing the number of such devices is expected to positively influence driver behavior and reduce violations. The upcoming rules for commercial drivers further highlight the growing focus on road safety, which may contribute to a decrease in accidents in the future.
