Starting in 2026, 47 Ukrainian Healthcare Facilities Begin Producing Their Own Electricity Through the Ray of Hope Project

The Ray of Hope Initiative in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Since the beginning of 2026, 47 healthcare institutions across Ukraine have started generating electricity independently via solar power plants as part of the Ray of Hope project. These solar installations collectively provide an estimated capacity of around 3500 kW. The initiative aims to enhance the energy resilience of medical facilities by integrating solar energy systems, energy storage solutions, and other technologies to guarantee a reliable power supply.

Currently, an additional 123 healthcare projects are underway at various stages of development. The support behind these efforts comes from multiple international partners, including:

• 32 facilities equipped through funding from Germany;
• 7 facilities supported by Sweden;
• 4 facilities backed by the United Kingdom;
• 2 facilities aided by the European Union;
• 1 facility funded by Belgium.

The Ray of Hope project is carried out with international assistance and coordinated efforts between Ukrainian and European bodies, notably the European Commission, Ukraine's Ministry of Energy, and Ministry of Health. This cooperation is organized under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund with guidance from the Energy Community Secretariat.
