Free Planned Stenting in Ukraine

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: As of January 1, 2026, planned coronary artery stenting in Ukraine has become free of charge under the Medical Guarantees Program. Since the beginning of the year, 7,854 such procedures have already been performed. The service is paid for by the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHBU), and stent systems are centrally purchased by the state.

Free planned stenting is provided to patients suffering from coronary heart disease when drug therapy does not yield the desired results or if significant narrowing of the coronary arteries is detected during examination. This is important for improving the quality of life for patients, as coronary heart disease has been diagnosed in over 3.6 million Ukrainians.

Healthcare Facilities and Service Accessibility

Currently, free stenting is performed by 79 healthcare facilities that have a contract with NHBU. For information on the availability of medical devices, patients can use the information and analytical dashboard of Medical Procurement of Ukraine. A list of facilities providing free stenting is also available for review.

This step is an important phase in reforming the medical system of Ukraine, as it ensures access to necessary medical services for a large number of patients with cardiovascular diseases. Free stenting can significantly improve not only the physical condition of patients but also reduce the financial burden on their families, as treating coronary heart disease often requires significant expenses.

At the same time, ensuring high-quality medical services under the Medical Guarantees Program will contribute to increasing trust in the healthcare system in Ukraine.
