According to glavcom.ua: Ukraine continues to fight against the problems of birth and mortality rates. In the first six months of 2025, 86,795 births and 249,002 deaths were registered. This statistics indicates the stability of the indicators over the past five years.

«86,795 infants were born in six months, which almost coincides with the figures for the same period last year, when 87,655 babies were born», the report states.

Despite the stable number of born children, the overall situation in the country is not favorable: over ten years, the number of newborns has halved. The highest number of births is recorded in Kyiv, while the highest mortality rate is in the Dnipro region. Interestingly, some regions show a certain growth in birth rates, while areas adjacent to the front line see a significant decrease in the number of births.

According to statistics, the number of born boys exceeds the number of girls (51%). However, the number of deaths remains high, significantly affecting the population of Ukraine. A prolonged decrease in the population can influence the socio-economic state of the country in the future.

It is important to consider these demographic trends when developing state policies and programs that promote childbirth and national health.
