Ukrzaliznytsia launched 3000 free kilometers: how to get tickets

On the first day of the launch of the '3000 km in Ukraine' program, Ukrainians issued over 4,000 tickets to or from frontline regions. From now on, Ukrzaliznytsia offers the possibility to book trips for 3000 km, which can be used during off-peak periods when there are available seats.

The program is part of the 'Winter Support' initiative and as of today, over 100,000 users in the app have activated it. The most popular destinations turned out to be Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, where passengers reserved 2,500,000 free kilometers.

Stimulating trips during off-peak periods

In the initial phase, the program focuses on routes of frontline communities, and the flights for the pilot phase were chosen based on train occupancy analysis. In the future, during off-peak seasons, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to offer around 250,000 seats per month to facilitate travel at an affordable price and relieve peak demand.

This program is about the rational use of railway resources and at the same time about making travel accessible for those who truly need it.

Importantly, no additional funds are allocated from the state budget for the program. By the Government's decision, there are provisions for compensators to enable Ukrzaliznytsia to receive additional income through dynamic pricing in the premium segment.

Starting with the most urgent destinations, Ukrzaliznytsia is gradually expanding the opportunities for travel across the country, making it easier and more financially accessible.
