In six months, Ukrainians purchased 114 thousand books through the eBook program
The state program "eBook" continues to gain popularity among young Ukrainians
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: According to the results of the first half of 2026, participants in the state program "eBook" purchased 114,361 books, submitting 64,808 applications for government assistance. Of the total number of applicants, 63,567 individuals have already received funds in their accounts. On average, each program participant bought 2.83 books. The program, which started in December 2024, continues to support young readers by providing access to literature.
Among buyers, physical bookstores are preferred, with 56.87% of books purchased from them, while 43.13% of books were bought online. The largest volume of purchases in stationary bookstores comes from Kyiv, followed by:
- Lviv Region;
- Dnipropetrovsk Region;
- Ivano-Frankivsk Region;
- Poltava Region.
Within the program, 325 stationary and 38 online bookstores participated. The most books were sold by the platform Yakaboo, and the leaders among publishers were KSD, BookChef, Vivat, "Ranok", and RM.
Popularity of Books and Authors
Among the most popular books in the TOP-50, the first place was taken by "The Game of Cat and Mouse. Book 1: The Pursuit of Adelina" by Hailey Di Carlton. The most popular author remains Colleen Hoover, while among Ukrainian authors, the leader is Volodymyr Stanchyshyn, who sold 876 books. He is followed by:
- Illarion Pavliuk with 580 copies sold;
- Andrii Sem'yankiv with 390 books.
To pay for books, program participants use "Diia" cards, with 60.11% choosing Monobank, 36.24% - PrivatBank, and 3.28% - A-Bank. Since January 1, 2026, the amount of government assistance under the "eBook" program is 998.40 UAH, which can be used over three months for paper, electronic, or audiobooks in Ukrainian.
Since the program started, 18-year-old Ukrainians received 286,645,648.80 UAH and purchased 549,172 books. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Book Institute with the support of the "Diia Support Project," which is funded by the Government of Sweden.
