Volodymyr Boreiko dies in a car accident - a famous Ukrainian ecologist
The famous Ukrainian ecologist, biologist, and animal rights activist Volodymyr Boreiko died in a traffic accident near Kyiv. He was 67 years old. Ukrainian Pravda reports this news.
His wife, journalist Olga Musafirova, reported the tragedy. The circumstances of the accident are currently not disclosed. The family asks for understanding of the situation and to refrain from calls at this time.
"We will inform about the time and place of the burial additionally. Please understand and do not call me right now," wrote Olga Musafirova.
Volodymyr Boreiko the ecologist: what he is known for
Volodymyr Boreiko was one of the most famous environmentalists in Ukraine. For many years he led the Kyiv Eco-Cultural Center and actively advocated for animal protection and the preservation of natural areas.
Throughout his career, he:
- wrote over 200 books about nature conservation
- published more than 700 scientific articles
- was an initiator of several environmental protection laws.
His activities significantly impacted the development of the ecological movement and the formation of environmental policy in Ukraine.
Death of Volodymyr Boreiko: awards and contributions to environmental protection
For his work, the ecologist received multiple state and regional awards.
In particular:
- in 2010, he was awarded the title of Honored Environmentalist of Ukraine
- in 2024, the Kyiv Regional Council awarded him a certificate of honor
Volodymyr Boreiko was one of the key activists of the environmental movement in Ukraine and dedicated many years to protecting the environment and animals.
