The Death of Maxim Kebas

According to Главком: Maxim Tarasovich Kebas (call sign 'Semen'), a driver-electrician with the 414th Separate Drone Systems Brigade known as 'Magyar's Birds,' was killed in the city of Pavlohrad on March 17, 2026. The 'Glavcom' news outlet reported his death, citing the Rivne City Council.

Life and Service

Born in Kyiv on December 14, 1969, Maxim Kebas was educated at Gymnasium No. 143 and Vocational School No. 25, where he trained as an auto mechanic. He also held a degree in psychology and was qualified as a military psychologist. Kebas was an active participant in Ukraine's 2014 Revolution of Dignity and had engaged in volunteer work since that year. He volunteered for military service following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

During his service, Kebas was assigned to territorial defense units, the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, and the 414th Separate Drone Systems Brigade. He fought in the defense of Kyiv and saw combat on the Kherson, Bakhmut, Donetsk, and Pokrovsk fronts. For his service, he was awarded the Commander-in-Chief's 'Golden Cross' distinction and other combat decorations.

On March 24, hundreds gathered at the Alley of Heroes on Obolon to honor his memory. His daughter, Khrystia Kebas, expressed profound grief, stating:

“On March 17, my world became empty. My father, Maxim Kebas, is gone-my best friend, the person who was always on my side, who taught me to love this world and defended it as a volunteer and a soldier.” – Khrystia Kebas

Maxim Kebas leaves behind a significant legacy as a soldier and civic activist who dedicated his life to defending Ukraine. His death represents another tragic loss for a Ukrainian society enduring the profound hardships of war. His story underscores the deep personal sacrifices made by volunteers who stepped forward at the war's outset, embodying the resilience and courage that have become central to Ukraine's national identity during this conflict.
