Zaporizhzhia wants to purchase 21 electric buses again with a 10 million euro loan: when the tender

KP «Zaporizhzhia Electrotrans» announced a new international tender for the purchase of up to 21 low-floor electric buses and charging infrastructure. Up to 9.84 million euros of credit funds from the European Investment Bank are planned for this procurement. This was reported by the municipal enterprise.

The project is being implemented as part of the «Urban Public Transport of Ukraine» program. It aims to renew the fleet, enhance safety and comfort of transportation, as well as increase the share of eco-friendly transport in Zaporizhzhia.

What is planned to be purchased for Zaporizhzhia with EIB loan funds 

The tender package includes not only electric buses but also the equipment necessary for their operation and maintenance. The winner must supply:

• up to 21 new low-floor electric buses;
• night charging stations;
• charging stations at terminal stops;
• main, expendable and worn spare parts;
• tools and equipment for maintenance;
• ancillary services.

The new transport must comply with Ukrainian legislation and modern requirements for urban transportation. A separate condition is the accessibility of electric buses for people with disabilities and other passengers with reduced mobility.

The total contract value is up to 9.84 million euros without taxes and customs duties. Financing will be provided by the European Investment Bank in the form of a loan.

When will the tender for electric buses in Zaporizhzhia be completed in September 2026 

Information about the procurement was posted on the website of the European Investment Bank on August 10, 2026. The next day, the announcement appeared in the Official Journal of the European Union on the Tenders Electronic Daily platform.

Potential participants can freely obtain the tender documentation in electronic format. To do this, they need to send an official request to the organizer with the company's details, the name and number of the tender, contacts, and information about the responsible person.

Proposals will be accepted until 11:00 on September 14, 2026. They must be submitted to the organizer's address in sealed envelopes according to the requirements of the tender documentation.

The opening of proposals is scheduled for 13:00 on the same day. Representatives of companies participating in the tender will be able to attend the procedure.

It is worth reminding that in Zaporizhzhia, due to repair work, the movement of trolleybuses №8 and №14 has been temporarily restricted. They do not run on the section between the stops «Bus Station» and «Simferopol Highway», and passengers are transported according to modified routes. The restrictions took effect at 5:00 on August 3.
