According to glavcom.ua: Tennis player Elena Vesnina discovered her misfortune due to problems with air travel in Moscow. She expressed her disappointment on her Instagram, asking followers if anyone had flown from 'Sheremetyevo'.

“Stuck at the airport. All flights are delayed for a day. Has anyone flown out last night or this morning from 'Sheremetyevo' anywhere?” – Vesnina wrote on her Instagram.

It is worth noting that Vesnina previously supported information about Russia's invasion of Ukraine by liking posts on Instagram.

Causes and consequences of air travel problems in Moscow

On July 5-6, 250 flights were canceled and over 270 were delayed at the airports of 'Sheremetyevo', 'Pulkovo', and 'Strigino'. Losses amounted to approximately 4-6 billion rubles due to such chaos on the first day, while total losses for airlines over the weekend could reach 20 billion rubles.

Restrictions in the airspace on July 5-6 led to cancellations of flights by airlines, affecting several cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Since the beginning of 2023, Russian airports have been closed at least 217 times due to drone threats, which has already resulted in billions in losses for airlines. The number of instances of the 'Carpet' plan in 2025 exceeded the previous two years combined.

It is also worth noting that the 'Kerch' airfield in Crimea became military in March 2025 after temporary occupation by terrorists.

In general, problems at Moscow airports have led to significant losses for both airlines and passengers, causing serious discontent and disappointment on social media.
