Zelenskyy Unveils Plans for a 'Vikings'-Level Series Set in Kyivan Rus

According to Главком: During the launch of the cultural support initiative "Tysiachovesna," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed his vision for a television series about Kyivan Rus, aiming to match the production quality of the acclaimed historical drama "Vikings." The project is designed not only to bring history to life but also to ensure top-tier production values by recruiting skilled showrunners. Zelenskyy stated,
“I would very much like Ukraine to have a product on the level of ‘Vikings’ about Kyivan Rus.”
The "Tysiachovesna" program will be an annual presidential initiative, which has already received over 2,600 applications in its competitive process. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of showcasing the nation’s history and its origins, adding,
“These are important matters. And I would compete for such a multi-season, high-quality product.”
The series is planned to span several seasons, allowing for in-depth character development.
