Ukraine's Position on Participating in the G20 Summit

According to 5 канал: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his willingness to take part in the upcoming G20 summit scheduled for December in Miami, USA, but only if Russian President Vladimir Putin is also present. Zelensky emphasized the importance of direct dialogue, stating:

“Yes, absolutely. We must attend. We need to meet, talk, and make decisions.” – Volodymyr Zelensky

He stressed that actions speak louder than words and highlighted the necessity of reaching tangible agreements.

Prospects for Peace Talks Involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov revealed the potential resumption of peace negotiations in a trilateral format between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. However, he noted it is too early to confirm the location or timing of these discussions. Peskov mentioned that recent talks in Moscow involving US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner could pave the way toward ending the conflict.

President Putin engaged in over three hours of discussions with these US representatives, focusing on possible resolutions to the Ukraine crisis. Despite this, no definitive agreements were reached. Peskov also claimed that Russia is nearing victory in the war against Ukraine and warned that prolonging peace talks might result in harsher conditions for Kyiv. He reiterated that Russia has long established the terms under which it is willing to negotiate.

US President Donald Trump announced that the 2026 G20 summit will take place at his Trump National Doral golf course in Miami. This highlights ongoing collaboration among major world powers despite current global tensions.

Therefore, the December G20 summit in Miami could become a crucial venue for addressing peace efforts in Ukraine, contingent on Putin’s decision to participate. Given recent US-Russia discussions and Zelensky’s statements, this international event carries significant weight for the region’s future. There is hope that such high-level meetings can contribute to achieving lasting stability and peace in Ukraine.
