Australia has already provided Ukraine with roughly €1 billion in military and financial assistance, supplying ammunition, precision weaponry, air defense systems, and armored vehicles. The country is also committed to training Ukrainian soldiers and participating in programs such as NSATU, PURL, and the Drone Systems Coalition. Their cooperation extends to cutting-edge technologies, including maritime drones, land platforms, and artificial intelligence systems.

Key Areas of Cooperation Outlined

The new $60 million funding boost from Australia will focus on strengthening Ukraine's energy infrastructure, protective gear, and humanitarian relief efforts. Beyond this, the partnership will support:

President Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's willingness to share its wartime experience and technological advances with Australia, highlighting the dual-use potential of innovations like maritime drones, land platforms, and AI systems beyond combat applications.

“These technologies can significantly enhance national security. We've agreed that our teams will collaborate on preparing the 'Drone Deal,'” he stated.

Ukraine has now established 30 bilateral security agreements with G7 and allied nations following the July 12, 2023, declaration in Vilnius. Countries involved include the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the United States, the European Union, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ireland, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, and Australia.

Additionally, the Australian government announced a separate $100 million military aid package and introduced new sanctions targeting Russian collaborators and shadow fleet vessels. Zelensky noted the significance of these measures, especially amid attempts in Europe to remove oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov from sanction lists.

“This sends an important message,” he remarked.
