High-Level Talks in The Hague

According to Рубрика — Політика: In The Hague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten alongside representatives from both nations' defense, energy, and software sectors. The meeting also included virtual participation from Kyiv, where Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade, Liesje Schreinemacher, is based. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, prioritizing satellite technology, advancing air defense capabilities, and reaffirming the Netherlands’ military and humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Key Areas of Collaboration

Business leaders from defense, energy, and software industries took part in the dialogue. Major topics covered included:

  • Defense manufacturing
  • Joint technology and energy initiatives
  • Industrial growth

Special emphasis was placed on satellite technology development and air defense systems. Both parties are actively working on the Bliksem air defense project, which is currently underway.

“Thank you very much, Prime Minister, our ministers, and business representatives. It’s significant that while the Dutch minister is in Kyiv, we are here in the Netherlands. What matters is that our businesses collaborate closely. We rely on this relationship and trust each other. Naturally, once the war ends, we expect Dutch companies to help rebuild Ukraine. We are very open to this.”

Prime Minister Rob Jetten reiterated the Netherlands’ steadfast political, legal, humanitarian, and military backing of Ukraine. The Dutch government has committed an additional €500 million military aid package, including air defense systems and drones. Furthermore, a non-lethal support package worth €1.2 billion has been allocated to bolster Ukraine’s energy resilience, access to clean water, humanitarian aid efforts, healthcare, and demining operations.

Looking ahead, the Netherlands plans to contribute €26.5 million to Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts in 2027 and will assist in maintaining Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets. An additional €10 million is earmarked for training centers dedicated to Ukrainian military personnel.

“It is essential that political agreements translate into tangible economic outcomes at the company level for both our countries, driving growth and creating jobs in Ukraine and the Netherlands.”

Volodymyr Zelensky

This meeting highlights the growing partnership between Ukraine and the Netherlands amid the ongoing conflict, underscoring the vital role European allies play in supporting Ukraine’s defense and economic stability. The focus on strengthening military capabilities alongside fostering industrial and technological development points to a long-term alliance aimed at Ukraine’s recovery once peace is restored. The Netherlands’ commitment extends beyond military aid, encompassing significant investments in rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure and business sectors.

As Ukraine continues to strengthen its defense capabilities with international support, recent commitments from the Netherlands and the UK highlight the growing military and financial aid provided to bolster Ukraine's resilience.
