Zelensky and Putin Ready for Meeting: Fico Talks About Negotiations

Forget about Moscow: Putin and Zelensky
Зеленський та Путін готуються до зустрічі: Фіцо обговорює можливі мирні переговори.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico held meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. After the negotiations, he stated that both presidents are considering the possibility of a personal conversation, without specifying where it might take place.

Fico noted that although the idea of a meeting between Zelensky and Putin in Moscow has lost relevance, communication is still in focus. Both leaders understand the importance of such a meeting to discuss issues and prevent further conflict.

'A meeting between President Zelensky and President Putin may not bring political benefits domestically, and Russian citizens may not support it. However, both leaders understand that they need to meet, talk about problems to avoid further conflict. If they do not communicate, the war will continue,'

Slovak military forces will not participate in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine but will allow transit from other states through their territory. Fico also supported Ukraine’s European ambitions and emphasized the importance of the country’s accession to the European Union.

Conclusion

The meeting between Zelensky and Putin is still on the agenda, although the venue has not been established. Both leaders understand the importance of dialogue for reconciliation and preventing further conflicts. At the same time, support for Ukraine’s European direction is becoming another step in strengthening relations with the EU and expanding the country's own opportunities.
