According to Главком: On March 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the 'Golden Heart' award to Serhiy Sterenko, founder of the 'Sterenko's Community' charity fund, and Ukrainian singer-volunteer Iryna Fedyshyn. This state decoration recognizes their significant efforts in fundraising and providing direct support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The award highlights the critical role of civil society in Ukraine's defense against the ongoing Russian invasion.
Substantial Contributions to Ukraine's Military
Serhiy Sterenko, through his foundation, has raised approximately 6 billion hryvnias for the AFU since the full-scale war began. According to the President's Office, he has organized systematic fundraising via his own media channels and facilitated the purchase and delivery of over 244,000 drones to the military, including 'Shahed' interceptor models.
Alongside her music career, Iryna Fedyshyn has been deeply involved in volunteer work as the director of her own charitable foundation. She has organized and performed in more than 240 charity concerts both in Ukraine and abroad. All proceeds from these events have been directed toward AFU needs and humanitarian aid. The President's Office notes that Fedyshyn has secured the procurement and transfer of over 400 units of military vehicles and hundreds of units of other critical equipment for defenders.
This event underscores the active participation of civil society in supporting Ukraine's Armed Forces during wartime. Recognizing individuals like Sterenko and Fedyshyn can inspire further charitable giving and volunteerism, which remains vital for meeting the army's needs and sustaining humanitarian initiatives across the country.
