Zelensky called strikes deep into Russia long-range sanctions

Meeting of the President of Ukraine on Defense

According to ХВИЛЯ: President Volodymyr Zelensky listened to the report of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapeatyi, where key defense issues of Ukraine were discussed, in particular:

• the situation in Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk;
• long-range strikes on Russian targets;
• negotiations with the United States regarding missiles for air defense;
• personnel issues in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of these topics in the context of the overall security of the country.

The main focus of the meeting was on the defense of Donetsk region. The president thanked the units that carry out combat missions, repelling Russian assaults and eliminating enemy forces.

“I am grateful to all the units that fully accomplish combat tasks, repel Russian assaults, eliminate 'leaks,' and consistently destroy the occupiers. There is an understanding of how to strengthen this direction,” Zelensky noted.

He also reported that at the meeting, solutions were found to improve the situation on this important front.

Long-range Strikes and Missile Supplies

The second block of the conversation was about strikes deep into Russian territory. The president referred to these actions as 'long-range sanctions' for the war and confirmed the successful results of the latest operation, particularly regarding the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery.

“We discussed tasks regarding long-range sanctions against Russia for the war. Good results were achieved on the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery. We continue with the relevant operations,” he reported.

Zelensky also emphasized the importance of supplying missiles for air defense, which he linked to diplomatic negotiations. He noted that:

• all partners know what is necessary;
• this affects not only the saving of lives and the protection of our cities but also Russia's attitude towards diplomacy.

“The more Putin believes in his bet on ballistic technology, the less inclined he will be to respond positively to diplomatic proposals. Therefore, strengthening the defense of Ukraine is a direct investment in diplomacy,” the president stressed.

A separate point of the meeting was personnel issues in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which need to be addressed. The president did not mention specific names or positions regarding these issues. As previously reported, Drapeatyi was presenting at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters for the first time, and the new commander’s team is considering candidates for the position of the Chief Sergeant of the Armed Forces.

This meeting indicates the activation of Ukraine's military strategy, specifically regarding the defense of Donetsk region and conducting long-range operations against Russian targets.
