Zelenskyy’s Weekly Update: Over 2,300 Drones and New Air Defense Systems
Ukraine’s Current Situation
According to Главком: Russian forces have been conducting relentless shelling across Ukraine over the past week, targeting residential areas and energy infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a major boost for the country’s defenses, including the delivery of an IRIS-T air defense system from Germany and finalized agreements with Sweden for the transfer of Gripen fighter jets.
The daily bombardments by Russian troops resulted in the following weekly totals:
- over 2,300 attack drones of various types;
- nearly 1,560 guided aerial bombs (KABs);
- 108 missiles of different kinds, including heavy ballistic ones.
A particularly devastating strike hit a residential neighborhood in the city of Shostka, Sumy region, wounding one civilian.
“All these attacks are aimed at ordinary civilian infrastructure-homes and energy facilities. We work every day to strengthen our defenses against Russian terror,” Zelenskyy stated.
The president also highlighted the significance of the new deal with Sweden, noting that “this week brought substantial agreements with Sweden-a new support package, including reinforcements for our air force with Gripen combat aircraft.”

Zelenskyy emphasized that “anti-ballistic protection is one of Ukraine’s top priorities.” The Ukrainian government is counting on continued support from the United States and European allies to strip Russia of its remaining military advantages.
