New Long-Range Strike Commands Established by Zelensky in Military Overhaul
Ukraine’s Armed Forces Undergo Structural Changes
According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed two decrees that restructure the country’s military. The reforms create a dedicated command for long-range strikes against Russia and introduce a new Joint Rapid Reaction Force. Zelensky announced these developments during his evening address, marking a significant shift in Ukraine’s defense posture amid the ongoing war.
The first decree establishes a command for long-range influence on Russia, tasked with channeling all available resources to degrade Moscow’s war-making capacity.
“This command must focus one hundred percent of its existing resources to further reduce Russia’s ability to wage war,” President Zelensky stated.
Separately, the second decree activates the Joint Rapid Reaction Force, to be led by Hero of Ukraine and Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, who currently commands the 8th Corps of the Air Assault Forces.
Assault Troops Transformation
Zelensky also announced a transformation of the assault troops. Law enforcement agencies are now taking procedural steps regarding these units. This restructuring occurs against the backdrop of a deepening fuel crisis in Russia and daily Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities.
Long-range strikes have already reached several Russian regions and targets in occupied Ukrainian territory, with the Security Service of Ukraine’s operations in this area continuing to advance successfully.
Zelensky emphasized that
“Ukraine must be heard, and our national interests must be understood,”
reflecting the country’s strategic direction in response to aggression.
These changes to Ukraine’s military structure signal an intensification of the nation’s war strategy amid Russia’s ongoing invasion. The creation of a new command and the Joint Rapid Reaction Force aims to boost defense capabilities and operational effectiveness, potentially influencing the conflict’s trajectory and regional security. The signed decrees also underscore the Ukrainian leadership’s proactive approach to addressing challenges on the front lines.
As Ukraine's military undergoes these pivotal reforms, the establishment of a long-range strike command and rapid response units is essential for enhancing the country's defensive capabilities. These measures are a direct response to the ongoing threats posed by Russia, underscoring the urgency for Ukraine to adapt its military strategy in this challenging landscape.
