Ukrainian President Confirms Strikes on Russian Factory and Refinery 900 km from Front Lines
Confirmation of Attacks on Russian Industrial Sites
According to Главком: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, has verified that Ukrainian forces successfully hit the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary and the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region. The strikes occurred during the night of June 10, 2026. Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo drones targeted the VNIIR-Progress facility, which supplies components for drones and missiles to the Russian military.
Zelenskyy stated, 'We continue to impose long-range Ukrainian sanctions on Russian military assets and the oil industry.'
He expressed gratitude to Ukraine’s Armed Forces for their precision, noting that the Kuibyshev refinery-located over 900 kilometers from the front line-was also hit. 'I am thankful to the warriors of the SSO, SBS, and GUR,' the president added.
Strikes on Oil Infrastructure
In addition, attacks were reported on two oil infrastructure sites in the Vladimir region, situated approximately 700 kilometers away. In 2025, Ukrainian drones struck Russian refineries at least 80 times, disabling roughly 20% of the country’s refining capacity. As of 2026, at least 12 refineries have been targeted, with five temporarily halting operations.
Notably, drones also hit the Novokuibyshev refinery in the Samara region. These actions underscore Ukraine’s ongoing campaign to disrupt Russian military infrastructure from a distance, leveraging drone technology to reach deep into enemy territory.
These strikes highlight Ukraine’s strategy of dismantling key components of Russia’s war industry and oil sector. They reflect the growing ability of Ukrainian forces to deploy drones for long-range attacks, potentially crippling Russia’s military logistics. Such operations also demonstrate the effectiveness of Ukraine’s military in the ongoing conflict, targeting strategic assets that may impact Russia’s combat resources and sustainment capabilities.
These recent strikes are part of a broader strategy to target critical Russian military and industrial assets.
