Presidential Briefing on Countering Russian Aggression

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has given his approval to a new set of tasks for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) after receiving a briefing on operations aimed at countering Russian aggression. As Ukraine's security service, its effectiveness matters for national security. The session covered both front-facing actions against the enemy and internal matters, specifically removing individuals from the agency who are not acting in Ukraine's interests. Acting SBU Chief Oleksandr Poklad presented the agency's priority list for August.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy stressed the need to clean up the SBU's internal ranks and endorsed further measures to achieve that.

"I also approved with the head of the SBU the next steps toward clearing the Service's internal structure of those who work for themselves instead of for Ukraine,"

the president said. He also thanked SBU personnel who, in his words,

"truly defend our state and its people."

The president's remarks, as reported by the outlet Khvylya from his social media channels, came after the same outlet had earlier covered an assassination attempt on the commander of the Khartia unit and a rotation of security officials.
