Zelenskyy Warns of Imminent Russian Assault on Ukraine's Power Grid
Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure Faces Renewed Threat
According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that Russia is preparing a new wave of mass strikes targeting the nation's energy system. He issued this warning during an address marking the 1454th day of the war. According to the President, Russian forces are actively working to launch severe attacks that could cripple Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure.
“Evil is also evolving. Unfortunately. These are combined strikes that require special protection and appropriate support from our partners,” stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Concurrently, a Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Geneva for trilateral talks. Ukraine is prepared to accept all realistic proposals from the United States, including the possibility of a long-term ceasefire. However, Russia is rejecting these initiatives and continues its active assaults on Ukrainian positions. On the security front, the President held a meeting with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to discuss energy issues.
Domestic Security and International Support Efforts
Following reports from Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) representatives Yevhen Khmara and Oleksandr Poklad, Zelenskyy set a new task concerning internal security. Oleksandr Poklad will lead an effort to purge the SBU, emphasizing the need for decisive action to build a truly strong service that serves Ukraine's interests.
“Harsh actions are needed to create a genuinely strong Security Service of Ukraine,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In terms of international backing, an 'Energy Ramstein' meeting involving G7 nations is being prepared in France. This comes as Ukraine's power grid remains vulnerable after years of targeted attacks. New sanctions have also been imposed against Russian sports figures who support the aggression.
Russia's preparations for fresh assaults on Ukraine's energy grid signal a continued escalation of the conflict and underscore the urgent need for enhanced defensive measures. With the country's energy security under threat, international efforts like the upcoming Energy Ramstein meeting are crucial for providing additional support in this critical sector. Simultaneously, strengthening domestic security through the reform of the SBU confirms the presidential administration's new course of action to fortify the state from within.
