Hero of Ukraine Awards Conferred

According to Главком: On February 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine, along with orders, medals, and military ranks to members of the Security and Defense Forces. Among these honors, five service members were recognized posthumously for their exceptional actions in combat against the occupying forces.

Heroes Awarded Posthumously

The title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded posthumously to:

  • Sergeant Oleh Havrylutsa
  • Junior Lieutenant Dmytro Demchenko
  • Junior Sergeant Andrii Lukashkov
  • Soldier Valentyn Naraiovskyi
  • Captain Vladyslav Seniuk

These individuals demonstrated extraordinary courage and bravery in defense of their nation. Oleh Havrylutsa, who died on July 5, 2025, conducted over 15 foot patrols along an 8 km route, eliminating more than 50 occupiers and destroying over 20 units of equipment. Dmytro Demchenko, killed on May 12, 2025, neutralized over 30 enemy combatants.

Andrii Lukashkov, who died in August 2025, targeted ammunition trucks, while Valentyn Naraiovskyi, killed in March 2025, held a defensive position in February 2024 near the Avdiivka Coke Plant, eliminating approximately an infantry squad. Captain Vladyslav Seniuk, who died on September 25, 2025, destroyed six tanks, around 20 artillery systems, and more than 230 occupiers.

Additional Honorees

The title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star was awarded to:

  • Senior Sergeant Vladyslav Zamura
  • Junior Lieutenant Andrii Ishchenko
  • Colonel Oleksii Khilchenko

Since February 2025, Vladyslav Zamura has served as an operator of a Vampire bomber drone, completing over 2,600 combat sorties, eliminating more than 500 occupiers, and destroying 13 artillery systems. Andrii Ishchenko organized mining operations in the Kharkiv region in September and captured two occupiers, with his unit responsible for neutralizing approximately 200 enemies. Oleksii Khilchenko, engaged in combat in the Donetsk region since February 2025, eliminated roughly an enemy platoon and four armored vehicles.

The awards also included the Cross of Combat Merit, the Orders of Merit, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, For Courage, and Danylo Halytsky, as well as medals. Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, was also honored with the Order of Merit, Third Class. These decorations underscore the valor and dedication of Ukrainian service members in the fight for the nation's independence and territorial integrity. The Hero of Ukraine award is the state's highest honor, typically reserved for acts of exceptional heroism.

This event serves as a vital recognition of the contributions made by Ukrainian military personnel in defending the country from aggression.
