Changes in the leadership of the Volyn Regional State Administration

According to Главком: President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Ivan Rudnytsky from the position of head of the Volyn Regional State Administration and appointed him as deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine. The corresponding decree number 46-43/2026 was signed by the president.

Ivan Rudnytsky was born on January 14, 1978, in the city of Drohobych, Lviv region. Since July 2019, he has held the position of head of the SBU department in the Zakarpattia region. Rudnytsky has experience working in the structure of the Security Service of Ukraine, in particular, from 2014 to 2015, he was the deputy head of the Zakarpattia regional SBU. Additionally, from 2015 to 2018, he held the position of head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime in Lviv region.

Appointment and Challenges

In November 2024, Ivan Rudnytsky was appointed head of the Volyn Regional State Administration. His work has not gone unnoticed: in 2008, he received a certificate from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for combating smuggling.

It is noteworthy that on January 5, 2026, SBU head Vasyl Maliuk submitted his resignation, after which Yevhen Khmara was appointed acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine. The president also signed decree No. 18/2026, establishing a new leadership structure of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The change in the position of head of the Volyn Regional State Administration and the appointment of Ivan Rudnytsky to a new position in the Security Service of Ukraine occur against the backdrop of significant changes in the leadership of this structure. The resignation of Vasyl Maliuk and the appointment of Yevhen Khmara indicate possible structural reforms in the SBU that may affect the strategy for combating internal threats, especially in the context of modern security challenges in Ukraine. Rudnytsky, with significant experience in the security field, may play an important role in implementing these changes.
