Ihor Brusylo's New Appointment

According to Главком: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a decree, No. 314/2026, assigning Ukraine's Ambassador to Italy, Ihor Brusylo, an additional diplomatic role. Brusylo will now also serve as Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This appointment underscores Ukraine's strategic focus on global food security, a sector where it is a major player.

Ihor Brusylo, who currently holds the position of Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Italian Republic, was previously Deputy Head of the President's Office. He was released from that domestic post by a separate decree, No. 216/2026, dated March 3. Brusylo had served as Deputy Head of the President's Office from March 17, 2021, under its head, Andriy Yermak.

Diplomatic Career Background

Prior to his role in the President's Office, until March 17, 2021, Brusylo worked as the Head of a Division within the Main Department of State Protocol and Ceremonial of the Presidential Administration. That unit is now known as the State Protocol and Ceremonial Service of the President's Office.

Decree No. 314/2026 states: 'To appoint Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Italian Republic, Ihor Mykolaiovych Brusylo, as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations on a concurrent basis.' - Decree of the President of Ukraine

This dual appointment allows Brusylo to continue his diplomatic service while taking on increased responsibilities. Holding these two key positions simultaneously is expected to enhance coordination between Ukraine's government and international bodies, particularly on agricultural and food policy matters of global significance.

As Ukraine strengthens its diplomatic efforts, the role of key figures in negotiations becomes increasingly important. For instance, Zelenskyy's insights into Budanov's involvement in the negotiation team highlight the strategic maneuvers being employed to navigate complex international relations and bolster Ukraine's position on the global stage.
