Sobolev Takes on Economic Role as New Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Office
Strategic Appointment for Economic Stability
According to Зеленський: Ukraine’s President has appointed Oleksii Sobolev as Deputy Head of the Office of the President, putting him in charge of economic affairs. This move underscores the government’s focus on economic resilience during the ongoing conflict. Sobolev will work closely with Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, Economy Minister Oleksandr Kravchenko, and other national and local officials to coordinate recovery efforts.
His primary mission is to boost business activity, safeguard existing jobs, and generate new employment opportunities. Sobolev will also collaborate with international partners to develop a post-war reconstruction plan for Ukraine.
'During wartime, it is critical to provide maximum support for economic activity, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship across our country-preserving as many jobs as possible and creating new ones to ensure a normal life for our people and Ukraine.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The President emphasized that Ukraine must be ready to shift back to a peacetime civilian economy once hostilities end. 'When the war concludes, Ukraine must be fully prepared to transition to ordinary civilian economic life, maintain the strength of its defense industries, and establish the right incentives for Ukrainians to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions and professional growth within the country,' he stated.
Sobolev’s role involves close coordination with government teams, the Presidential Office, regional and local authorities, businesses, academia, and civil society to ensure the effective implementation of the nation’s recovery strategy. 'Thank you to everyone who is helping!' Zelenskyy concluded, urging all stakeholders to join forces.
Why This Appointment Matters
By placing Sobolev in this position, the administration highlights the urgent need for economic stability amid war. His ability to align efforts across government levels is key to sustaining entrepreneurship and job creation, which in turn will drive post-conflict economic revival. The success of this role will largely determine how quickly Ukraine can restore normal economic life after the war.
As Ukraine navigates its complex path towards recovery, understanding the potential scenarios for the war's conclusion is crucial. The insights from President Zelenskyy on preparing for various endgame situations highlight the strategic considerations that will impact future economic policies and Sobolev's new role in fostering stability.
