Zelenskyy Marks 13th Wartime Ramadan, Chairs Security Meeting on Energy and Crimea
Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the country's Muslim community and the Crimean Tatar people are observing their 13th Ramadan under the shadow of Russian aggression. In a social media post, he expressed hope that next year's holy month will be celebrated in peace. Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of remembering occupied territories and the urgent need to prepare Ukraine's energy infrastructure for the coming winter.
"For the 13th Ramadan, Ukraine's Muslim community and the Crimean Tatar people are marking this period under the difficult conditions of Russian aggression and attacks. We very much want next year's Ramadan to be in peace," President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
He further emphasized that Ukraine remembers all its lands and every community, specifically mentioning Donbas and Crimea, asserting: "We will not give Russia anything that is Ukrainian. This is our fundamental position."
Winter Preparations and the Middle East Situation
Zelenskyy announced a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to discuss preparations for protecting and restoring energy facilities ahead of next winter. He discussed these plans with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov.
- "This year, a specific list of necessary actions will be approved at the NSDC level for each region," he added.
Additionally, the president voiced concern over the situation in the Middle East, stating he hopes the regime in Iran does not prevail, describing it as an inhumane regime that spreads war across the entire region. This statement comes as Ukraine seeks to maintain international focus on its own conflict while regional tensions escalate.
The president's remarks underscore the ongoing support for Ukraine's Muslim minorities during the war with Russia and reaffirm the commitment to national identity and territorial integrity. The announced energy preparations are a critical step to ensure stability amid the military challenges facing the country. These measures could prove vital for the nation's resilience against winter hardships during wartime.
