Ukrainian President's Statement During Spain Visit

According to Главком: During a visit to Spain, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia has intensified its campaign of mass ballistic missile strikes against Ukraine's infrastructure. He stated that the Russian Federation has shifted to regular, large-scale attacks, relying heavily on ballistic missiles. The enemy carries out at least five to six massive strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure each month, deploying dozens of ballistic missiles in the process.

'Russia's war against Ukraine continues and is being waged with the same brutality as before. Drones and missiles strike every single day. They target our energy sector and our cities. Russia is now allowing itself to use more ballistic missiles than it did previously. This amounts to dozens of ballistic missiles per month, in addition to a significant number of cruise missiles and more destructive drones.' - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Negotiations and Defense Agreements

The visit to Spain includes plans to sign defense agreements and hold talks with the country's leadership. Zelenskyy will hold negotiations with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and will also visit the Spanish parliament. There, he is scheduled to meet with:

  • President of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol
  • President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán

Furthermore, a separate meeting between the Ukrainian President and King Felipe VI of Spain is planned.

This diplomatic effort follows a recent trilateral meeting involving Zelenskyy, new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The parties discussed joint weapons production and coordination to strengthen the defense of Ukraine and Europe, specifically focusing on bolstering air defense systems, securing missile supplies, and implementing decisions within the Ramstein format.

President Zelenskyy's remarks underscore the severe threat posed by Russia's evolving war tactics. The mass ballistic missile attacks signal a potential escalation of the conflict and highlight the urgent need for enhanced international support for Ukraine. His meetings with Spanish leaders and NATO allies are part of a critical diplomatic push to secure the military aid necessary for Ukraine's survival, as Western support faces political challenges in some capitals.

As Ukraine faces intensified missile attacks, President Zelenskyy's visit to Spain aims to strengthen international support through defense agreements and high-level meetings. These discussions are crucial for coordinating military aid and enhancing Ukraine's air defense capabilities amidst the ongoing conflict.
