Zelensky on the US peace plan: 28 points condensed to 20, but no compromise on territories

Negotiations on Peace Settlement

According to ХВИЛЯ: On December 8, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the progress of negotiations regarding the peace settlement. He noted that the American peace plan had been reduced from 28 to 20 points; however, he emphasized that a compromise on territories has yet to be found. According to the president, it is important to maintain Ukraine's position on issues of territorial integrity.

Zelensky also drew attention to the funding of the PURL program, which requires 15 billion dollars per year. He mentioned that the Netherlands allocated 700 million dollars, but currently, 800 million dollars are lacking to fully support the program. This underscores the importance of international support for the stability and development of Ukraine.

Political Situation in Ukraine

Discussing current challenges, the president said:

'We have no right...'

and added that

'everyone understands and shares our view'

. In the context of negotiations, Zelensky also noted that 'If this is not the Budapest Memorandum...', highlighting the importance of international security guarantees for Ukraine.
