According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russian forces are preparing a new offensive operation in the Donetsk region this spring. He delivered this assessment during a visit to brigade positions in Donetsk Oblast. The President emphasized the critical need for Ukrainian defensive lines to remain robust, noting that "the Russians have not abandoned the war and are preparing a spring offensive here, in Donetsk." The Donbas region has been a focal point of intense fighting since 2014.
President's Visit to Ukrainian Brigades
During his frontline visit, Zelenskyy inspected the following units:
- 28th Brigade
- 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade
- 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade
- 36th Marine Brigade
Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarked that
"the guys are holding their ground with dignity. And this is exactly how our country, our diplomacy, and our people will continue to stand. Evil must be stopped. Ukrainians here in Donbas are doing precisely that."
Steven Witkoff, the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, reported positive momentum in negotiations. This development underscores the importance of sustained international backing for Ukraine as the threat from Russia escalates. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to all military personnel defending the state, stating,
"I want to thank all of you – everyone who is defending our state!"
