Assessing Russian Military Losses

According to Главком: In an interview with Reuters, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided a stark assessment of the potential cost to Russia for attempting to seize Ukrainian-controlled territory in the Donbas. He stated that Russia would likely suffer between 300,000 and one million military casualties in such an offensive. Zelenskyy noted that Russia is currently losing between 28,000 and 35,000 soldiers per month on this front. He also highlighted intelligence support that Iran is receiving directly from Russia, asserting that Ukraine's own security services possess evidence of this assistance.

Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's readiness to counter every Russian attack, while also observing that international pressure on Moscow is gradually waning. He warned that the Russian Federation is preparing an operation targeting Ukraine's water supply systems and is continuing a second phase of its winter campaign, which focuses on striking water infrastructure, reservoirs, dams, and logistical networks.

Drone Production and Russia's Disregard for Losses

Zelenskyy stated that, given sufficient budget, Ukraine has the capacity to produce up to two thousand interceptor drones per day. He expressed the view that Russia does not value human life but understands the financial cost, remarking:

“They could bury between 300,000 and a million of their military personnel there. These are all contracts, and that means 300,000 or one million additional graves sent back to Russia.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

He added that the Kremlin does not fully comprehend the potential societal repercussions, questioning 'whether people will get used to it or not.' These comments underscore the gravity of the situation in eastern Ukraine and the country's resolve to resist aggression. The staggering scale of potential Russian losses could significantly impact the Kremlin's future military strategy and its domestic political stability. Sustained international support remains a critical factor for Ukraine's security as the conflict continues.

As the conflict continues to escalate, recent estimates indicate that Russian military losses may approach 100,000 within just three months. This alarming figure underscores the heavy toll on Russian forces, further complicating their military strategy in the Donbas region and highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by Ukraine in its defense efforts.
