Urgent Pre-Negotiation Briefing

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened an urgent meeting with his nation's negotiation team ahead of a new round of trilateral talks scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. In preparation for these discussions, the Ukrainian delegation will also hold bilateral meetings with representatives from the United States. This diplomatic push comes as Ukraine seeks to maintain international support and chart a path forward amid the ongoing conflict.

The key members of the team present at the briefing were:

  • Defense Minister Rustem Umerov
  • Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), Kyrylo Budanov
  • Permanent Representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya
  • Commander of the Joint Forces, Andriy Hnatov
  • Deputy Head of the President's Office, Oleksandr Bevz

Additionally, the head of the 'Servant of the People' parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia, will participate in the negotiations.

Zelenskyy emphasized that 'the war must be ended.'

He also noted that 'we are counting on further substantive work regarding documents on recovery and economic development.' It is important to note that de-escalation measures took effect on the night of last Friday, which could influence the course of the upcoming talks.

Ukraine's Diplomatic Efforts

The preparations for these new negotiation rounds highlight the intensification of Ukraine's diplomatic efforts within the context of the war and the search for paths to its conclusion. The meetings with US representatives are expected to be a crucial step in strengthening international backing for Ukraine and discussing security mechanisms that could help stabilize the regional situation. The experience from past negotiations and the current political climate are likely to shape the further development of events in this process.
