Ukraine’s Defense Forces Strike Military and Logistics Targets in Crimea

According to Главком: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that the operation targeting military and logistical sites in Russian-occupied Crimea is already yielding early results. According to him, these strikes have slowed the militarization of the peninsula and inflicted damage on Russian military infrastructure. The operation focuses on hitting:

  • military installations;
  • air defense systems;
  • logistics hubs;
  • fuel and energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy described the Crimea operation as a follow-up to previous attacks on facilities in Novorossiysk. He stressed the strategic importance of controlling logistics and the energy sector, stating:

'We have cut off their logistics and taken control of the fuel and energy complex. We demonstrated what it means to operationally control the sky over a specific point at a specific time.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukraine has also been systematically striking Russian energy and port infrastructure. However, despite these efforts, Russia continues to use Crimea as a launchpad for missiles, a base for its aircraft, and a supply hub for its troops on the southern front. Following the latest wave of strikes, the peninsula has experienced widespread power outages, with electricity cuts reported across all cities and districts. Some areas have also faced disruptions to water supply and telecommunications.

Zelenskyy added that Russian business leaders are beginning to realize they cannot win the war:

'Russian business is starting to understand that they are not going to win this war. They are losing both time and money, and frankly, they will lose hope-because many of them held onto the hope of capturing us.' Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The operation aims to degrade Russia’s military capacity on the occupied peninsula and prevent Crimea from being used as a staging ground for further attacks.

Ukraine’s Broader Strategy

This campaign in Crimea is part of a larger Ukrainian strategy to weaken Russia’s military infrastructure and enhance national security. Given Crimea’s critical role in Russia’s war effort, the success of these operations could significantly alter the conflict’s trajectory. Continued strikes on occupied territories also signal Ukraine’s intent to maintain pressure on the aggressor, potentially shifting the regional balance of power.

As Ukraine intensifies its military actions in Crimea, the repercussions are becoming increasingly evident. Recent operations have not only targeted military assets but have also disrupted essential services, leading to widespread blackouts across the region. This highlights the ongoing struggle to undermine Russian capabilities on the peninsula and the strategic importance of crippling their energy infrastructure.
