Ukrainian President's Visit to the Netherlands

According to Рубрика — Політика: On October 28, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commenced a working visit to the Netherlands. In The Hague, he is scheduled to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and King Willem-Alexander. The primary focus of this visit is to discuss enhancing defense collaboration, boosting Ukraine’s air defense capabilities, and expanding economic partnerships.

During the visit, Zelensky will also review the Netherlands’ planned financial aid package for Ukraine. Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Sigrid Kaag, announced that the Netherlands will allocate €1.2 billion in non-military aid to Ukraine over the next three years. This funding breakdown includes:

  • €40 million directed to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund;
  • €55 million earmarked for delivering energy equipment;
  • €136 million dedicated to backing companies involved in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.

Additionally, the Netherlands will invest €10 million in the Industrial Ramstein program, aimed at restoring and modernizing Ukrainian industrial production facilities.

“We are strengthening our partnership and working towards greater protection for Ukraine. Discussions will focus on defense and economic cooperation, enhancing Ukraine’s air defense, and new measures to support the country.”

This visit follows earlier talks held on April 16, 2026, when Zelensky met with Rob Jetten, culminating in the signing of a defense partnership agreement between Ukraine and the Netherlands.

Financial Support and Investments

The Netherlands plans to invest €482 million in Ukraine’s defense sector, including joint production of weaponry such as drones. The Dutch government also intends to continue funding the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF) in 2027, with a budget of €26.5 million. In total, the Netherlands is set to provide over €3 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2027, covering maintenance of supplied weaponry, drone systems, and air defense enhancements. Furthermore, €10 million will be allocated to training centers within Ukraine to prepare military personnel.

President Zelensky’s visit underscores the critical role of international support for Ukraine amid ongoing geopolitical challenges. The deepening defense cooperation and substantial financial commitments from the Netherlands are expected to significantly bolster Ukraine’s military resilience. This ongoing partnership also highlights a steady and mutually beneficial economic relationship that could contribute to Ukraine’s long-term recovery and stability.

As President Zelensky strengthens Ukraine's defense and economic ties with the Netherlands, it's important to note the ongoing financial commitments from the Dutch government. Recently, the Netherlands confirmed an extension of funding for the Ukraine Partnership Facility, amounting to €26.5 million for 2027. This initiative highlights the sustained support for Ukraine's recovery and development. For more details on this funding extension, see our coverage regarding the Ukraine Partnership Facility.
