According to Главком: The European Parliament has voted to appoint Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as an honorary member of the European Order of Merit. Oleksandra Matviichuk, head of the Center for Civil Liberties, was also named a laureate alongside him. This recognition highlights the significant contributions both figures have made to advancing European values and democracy. The European Order of Merit, established in 2025, stands as the highest honor awarded by the European Parliament.

A formal award ceremony is scheduled for May 19, 2026, in the European Parliament's session hall in Strasbourg. This event will mark a major occasion for all honorees recognized for their achievements and societal impact.
