Zelensky Establishes Long-Range Strike Command to Target Russia
New Military Units Formed in Ukraine
According to Зеленський: Ukraine's President has signed decrees to create new military formations within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including a command for long-range strikes against Russia and Joint Rapid Response Forces. These decisions aim to bolster the country's defense capabilities and reduce Russia's military potential. The move comes as Ukraine continues to adapt its military structure to counter ongoing aggression.
Specifically, a decree establishes a special command within the Armed Forces focused on exerting global influence on Russia. Additionally, a transformation of the assault troops has been announced, intended to enhance their effectiveness in combat missions.
Joint Rapid Response Forces
The Joint Rapid Response Forces represent a new component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, a Hero of Ukraine and commander of the 8th Air Assault Corps, has been appointed to lead this formation. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that
“the commander of the Joint Rapid Response Forces must be an experienced military officer, a combat commander,”
emphasizing that
“Brigadier General Voloshyn is capable of ensuring the further development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s capabilities in this area.”
Zelensky also highlighted the importance of the new command:
“This command must focus one hundred percent of available resources to further reduce Russia’s war potential.”
He further noted that
“the commander in this direction will be strong and certainly highly experienced.”
These structural changes to military formations are part of Ukraine's strategy in response to contemporary security challenges.
The creation of these new military units underscores Ukraine's drive to adapt to evolving security conditions, particularly in the context of the threat from Russia. The new commands, especially the long-range strike focus, could significantly alter wartime tactics and enhance the country's defensive posture. This also signals Ukraine's readiness for proactive countermeasures against aggression and its intent to strengthen its standing on the international stage.
In addition to these military reforms, the government is also enhancing support for soldiers through new financial incentives. Recently, President Zelenskyy announced increased bonuses and contracts for military personnel, aiming to boost morale and attract more recruits. This comprehensive approach reflects Ukraine's commitment to strengthening its defense capabilities amid ongoing conflict.
