Zelensky and Gili on Joint Drone Production: Britain Promises Over 1000 Systems per Month
Meeting of the President of Ukraine with the UK Minister of Defence
According to Главком: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, held a meeting with the UK Minister of Defence, John Gili, during which a number of important issues were discussed, including:
- the British contingent;
- the consequences of Russia's recent attack on Ukraine;
- sanctions against Russia;
- joint drone production.
In particular, during the meeting, options for the British contingent working together with France were discussed. This took place against the backdrop of a night attack by the Russian Federation on critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and Lviv region, during which a medium-range ballistic missile was used. Both leaders also emphasized the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia.
One of the key topics of conversation was joint defense production, specifically interceptor drones, Octopus. John Gili noted that the United Kingdom would start producing new, improved drones and interceptors this month, and by next month, they would begin supplying them to Ukraine.
'We aim to ensure that over 1,000 such systems reach the hands of your defenders every month,' emphasized John Gili.
The Ukrainian side provided the necessary data for the production of drones, which demonstrates active cooperation between the countries.
Additionally, during the meeting, the issue of the number of military personnel that the UK would send to Ukraine was raised, but John Gili did not provide specific figures. At the same time, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed the possibility of deploying troops to Ukraine, while Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez hinted at the participation of Spanish military in a peacekeeping mission. Thus, the meeting between Zelensky and Gili highlighted the importance of international support for Ukraine amid ongoing aggression.
International Support for Ukraine
This meeting reflects the growing international support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression. Joint drone production and discussions of military supplies indicate the readiness of Western partners to intensify their assistance amid the escalating conflict.
