Dimensions between Ukraine and Canada: Action Plan and Letter of Intent signed

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney signed an Action Plan for the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Security. This plan defines the main areas of cooperation in the security sphere, such as military training, development of defense capabilities, combating cyber threats and terrorism.

Canada also committed to financing the joint production of Ukrainian defense products in Canada to support Ukraine and improve the manufactured products. Additionally, an Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters between Ukraine and Canada was signed.

Ukraine and Canada signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Security on February 24 of last year. Canada was the first country outside Europe to confirm its security commitments to Ukraine.

Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Natalka Tsymok signed the Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters.

It was also announced that Canada would provide Ukraine with weapons worth $1 billion, including drones, shells, and armored vehicles. It is noteworthy that during his visit to Kyiv, Mark Carney participated in the celebration of the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence along with the country's leadership and foreign guests.

The signing of the Action Plan and Letter of Intent between Ukraine and Canada indicates a deepening of cooperation between the countries in the field of security and defense. The Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters will provide an opportunity to enhance cooperation at customs for the convenience and efficiency of trade between Ukraine and Canada.
