In Kharkiv, Zelenskyy and Tusk Announce New Polish Aid Package and Joint Arms Production

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a joint briefing in Kharkiv on February 5. Their discussions centered on military assistance from Poland, a potential prisoner exchange, and collaborative weapons manufacturing. This meeting underscores Poland's role as a key strategic partner for Ukraine, particularly in the face of ongoing military aggression.
Military Aid and Collaborative Manufacturing Plans
Poland is preparing its 48th military aid package for Ukraine, valued at 200 million Polish złoty, with armored vehicles forming its core. Donald Tusk confirmed Poland's readiness to transfer MiG fighter jets to Ukraine should the need arise. In turn, Kyiv has provided Warsaw with a list of drones that could potentially be exchanged for the aircraft.
Furthermore, the two sides signed a letter of intent for joint weapons production, with plans to finance the project using funds from the SAFE program. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine requires a military force of approximately 800,000 personnel.

Donald Tusk, in turn, emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine:
“I know that Ukraine needs various types of air defense systems. We cannot help with everything. But if MiGs are needed, then Poland is ready to transfer them.”
He also noted that joint arms production is a goal both countries have worked toward for many months:
“This has been our goal for many, many months. We have talked about it and made considerable efforts to make the idea of joint arms production at enterprises both in Poland and in Ukraine a reality.”
This meeting highlights the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland. Military aid and collaborative arms production could significantly strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
