Ukrainian President Rules Out Territorial Concessions

According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview with the BBC, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has firmly rejected the possibility of ceding any territory to Russia to end the war. Speaking from the government quarter in Kyiv, Zelenskyy discussed the military situation, the need for long-term security guarantees, and the conditions for holding elections. His comments come as international pressure for a negotiated settlement continues, though Ukraine's stance remains unwavering.

Zelenskyy specified that Moscow is demanding Ukraine surrender 20% of the Donetsk region, along with territories in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. He argued that a purely military effort to reclaim all lands within Ukraine's 1991 borders could lead to the deaths of millions of Ukrainians.

"I don't see this simply as land. I see it as abandonment-a weakening of our position, leaving behind hundreds of thousands of our people... And I am convinced this 'retreat' would divide our society," stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Call for International Support and Air Defense

Furthermore, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine requires 30-year security guarantee agreements, which must be ratified by the U.S. Congress. He identified air defense as the country's number one problem.

"Unfortunately, our partners still do not provide us with licenses to independently produce systems, for example, Patriot, or even missiles for the systems we already have," he added.

Zelenskyy also addressed former U.S. President Donald Trump's demand for rapid negotiations with Russia, stating, "I am not a dictator, and I did not start this war, that's all." Regarding elections, the president emphasized they must be conducted in a way the Ukrainian people recognize as legitimate: "If you want to hold elections... conduct them so that the Ukrainian people recognize them first and foremost. And you yourself must recognize that these are legitimate elections."

On some issues, Zelenskyy acknowledged uncertainty, saying, "I don't know. I have no answer." These remarks reflect the complex reality Ukraine faces amid ongoing military aggression and international demands.
