Ukrainian President Comments on Russian Attack

According to Главком: Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's president, weighed in on remarks made by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar concerning a Russian assault. Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador following a large-scale aerial attack by Russia on the Zakarpattia region on May 13. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia carried out a coordinated strike across Ukraine, hitting cities including Lutsk, Kovel, Kolomyia, Khmelnytskyi, and Ivano-Frankivsk.

The head of state described the Hungarian premier's stance as a significant signal, stating that

“Moscow has once again shown itself to be a shared threat-not just to Ukraine, but to neighboring countries and Europe as a whole.”

Zelenskyy noted that the assault is ongoing, with initial missiles already launched. He thanked the Hungarian government leader for his concern and firm position, which marks a sharp shift in Budapest's policy toward Moscow following the renewal of Hungary's government.

Air Strike Developments

Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate reported the start of a massive aerial assault on the nation's critical infrastructure. In the first wave, Russia deployed a substantial number of attack drones, with plans to later use:

  • Air- and sea-launched cruise missiles
  • Ballistic missiles

Moscow's primary targets are critical infrastructure facilities and life-support systems in major cities.

The Ukrainian president also warned that occupiers may launch missiles against Ukraine after all drone waves have passed. These events highlight the need for unity and a collective stance in countering aggression.

The statements from Ukraine's leader and Hungary's response underscore growing international backing for Ukraine amid Russian aggression. Coordinated efforts between neighboring states and support from global partners could prove crucial in addressing emerging threats. Russia's actions reinforce the call for worldwide solidarity and decisive measures to ensure regional security.

As the situation escalates, President Zelenskyy has emphasized the ongoing threat posed by Russia, reiterating that the recent attacks are part of a broader strategy to undermine Ukraine's sovereignty. This comes in light of his previous remarks regarding Russia's refusal to honor ceasefire agreements, which further complicates the path to peace.
