Ukrainian President Visits Romanian Training Center

According to Главком: During a visit to Romania, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected a training center where Ukrainian pilots are learning to operate F-16 fighter jets. This training is a critical step in building Ukraine's military capacity, with the first pilots having begun their instruction on these advanced aircraft in 2024. The President met with the Ukrainian service members undergoing the program to discuss their training conditions and the challenges they face.

Zelenskyy noted that the center's curriculum involves multiple stages, combining theoretical classroom instruction with practical training flights. The urgency of this preparation is underscored by the fact that some Ukrainian pilots are already engaged in combat missions, actively defending against Russian aggression.

“I thank Romania, the instructors at this center, and everyone who is helping us defend ourselves and counter Russian terror. We are working tirelessly to develop the protection of our skies.”

Bolstering Ukrainian Air Power with International Support

The President expressed gratitude to Romania and the center's instructors for their assistance. He also thanked partner nations-specifically Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway-for their contributions in providing F-16s to Ukraine. This support is part of a broader Western effort to help Ukraine defend its sovereignty.

Strengthening Ukraine's air force aims not only to enhance national defense but also to increase security for Ukraine and the wider European region. Zelenskyy emphasized that with support from international partners like the United States, Ukraine gains greater capability to effectively counter the ongoing aggression.

The F-16 training program in Romania is a key component of Ukraine's strategy to bolster its defensive capabilities amid the prolonged war with Russia. Preparing personnel to operate modern combat aircraft allows Ukraine to improve its military potential and deepen cooperation with allies. This cooperation holds strategic significance for regional security and could influence the geopolitical landscape of Europe for years to come.
